Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Barbara Alice Adams Thomas passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Charleen in Provo, Utah on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

She was the sixth and only girl of seven children born to Samuel Herbert Adams and Alice Bigelow Adams on December 12, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Growing up, her family moved to Piedmont, California, Albuquerque, New Mexico and then back to Salt Lake City.

She attended Brigham Young University where at a “Mat Dance” she met the love of her life, Leland Steven Thomas. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 23, 1946 and married for 69 years. They have two children, Kathryn Thomas and Charleen Thomas Kahn (Jeff). Later in their life, they served an LDS mission in London, England.

Barbara loved her family, was compassionate and extremely hard working. She loved her home, traveling, reading, cooking, collecting recipes and cookbooks.

She is preceded in death by her husband, grandson, six brothers and parents.

A special thank you to Sandra Brown, Jessica Borow, Lisa Capt, Marleen Oaks, Alex Wittusen and Glyneth Bockholf for the exceptional and loving care they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Avenue, Provo, Utah. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery. To express condolences visit
