CHALUS JOHN OFAMEILANGI TUIVAI
(April 1, 1998 – October 7, 2020) passed away suddenly, at the age of 22, as the result of a tragic climbing accident while out exploring nature.
Born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Chalus resided in Hope, BC, Klemtu BC, San Jose CA, and Provo, Utah in his lifetime.
Chalus is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Barney Chalus, and his paternal grandmother, Tupou Sililia Tuivai.
Left to grieve are his parents, Karmen and Aleki Tuivai; his brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, Joshua, Alexander and Christoper, all of Provo, Utah; his grandmother, Marg Chalus of Hope, British Columbia; his Godmother, Michelle Shaw of Edmonton, Alberta; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chalus loved a Beyond Meat burger from A&W, astrology, all things 80’s, Rihanna, Alexander McQueen, a good conspiracy theory, drawing, Prince and The Spice Girls – although not necessarily in that order.
We wish to acknowledge, with special thanks: Utah Search Dogs, Officer Bushman of the Provo Police Department; and the many volunteers who helped search for Chalus.
A virtual Celebration of Chalus’ life will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 2:00 pm. It can be accessed here: Funeral Webcast
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Chalus’ name to Utah Search Dogs (www.utahsearchdogs.org).
