Obituary

Douglas Clay Jarvie, age 91, passed away quietly at home in Provo UT on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Douglas was born December 22, 1927 in Rock Springs WY to Thomas and Alice Jarvie. He married Eutona V Briggs of Manila UT on May 6, 1951. Doug served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then spent his career with the Bureau of Reclamation. Due to job assignments, Doug moved the family around from time to time, but stayed in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.
Douglas’ background, and later his hobby, was Ranching and he possessed a penchant for caring for sick animals. He was entirely devoted to family and possessed a strict moral compass. He taught his family the value of a hard work ethic, while also finding time to be a strong advocate for the less fortunate. He was a disciplinarian but ruled with a caring father’s touch. He never spanked his children, but they so hated to disappoint him. To Eutona, he was the world’s best husband and soulmate. To Gilbert, Gaylen and Tammee, he was the world’s best father and example. To his surviving family, a true icon has passed beyond the veil.

I remember Doug from when he was a Party Chief working with my dad on Flaming Gorge Dam. The orange bull snake he and my dad saw south of manila and the story of Doug telling the contractors not to park the dozer in the field as it was real soft there. hope they had a good laugh over that one. Our condolences to the family and rest assured he will be remembered.
