Obituary

This world became a little less bright as we said our “goodbyes” to the strongest, most tenacious, amazing girl. Emarie already surpassed so many expectations given to her by health professionals. She faced immense challenges every single day of her life. But, she did so with a smile, and the most infectious laugh that left a deep impression on anyone that was privileged to witness it. She also found a way around almost every boundary set before her. We know she is raising hell in the afterlife as sure as we know that we did not say goodbye forever.

Emarie had an impact that reached globally, and will never fade. We are immensely grateful for the 12 years we had with her. But it will never be enough time.

Emarie is survived by her parents, Steve and Alisha Peters, her younger siblings, Ryker (7) and Hallie (5). As well, as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended chromosome 18 family, that will all never be the same with her absence.

Please help us by celebrating her life in the best way we know how, on Saturday, February 29th from 3-5 pm at Nelson Family Mortuary. There will be a live webcast for those that can’t physically attend, and we’d love for all to join us when we do the bubble release around 4:45 mst.

In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate any and all donations to go directly to The Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society. Without whom, I am certain we would not have gotten these amazing 12 years with our girl, and we’d love research efforts to continue to help her extended family with chromosome 18 abnormalities.

I was one of Em's first photographers! There has never been anyone that I would goof off for like I would for Em. And seriously once I got her laughing, I couldn't stop smiling. I'm privileged enough to be an honorary auntie and I only wish I was able to spend more time with her. I will treasure the memories I have of her and I'll always be in awe of how she changed everyone she met. I have so many more feelings I have about little Emarie and just don't know how to put into words. Steve and Alisha I love you both so much and you're whole little family. I know your road ahead isn't going to be all better next Sunday. It's going to be a lifetime of remembering and celebrating that little gift in all of our lives and I hope you know I'll be here to celebrate and remember her with you always.

Emarie was always happy and had a contagious laugh. I remember playing ball with her. She loved to play. She would often look right at you and then purposely throw the ball to miss you, such a tease. Then she would sign for you to go get it. Sometimes I would, sometimes I would tell her to get it and she would scoot herself after it. She was a delight. She would just brighten up the room.
I had the privilege of watching her when she was little. Times I will always treasure. 💕💕💕Love you Emarie and you will be missed.💕💕💕

Steve and Alicia...Debbie has always been so proud of the way you let Emarie be her own person...praised her...loved her...given her as normal a life as possible. I know the times I have been in Debbie's home and seen her, she was always happy and busy playing with toys or her cousins. She is free from the bonds of this mortal life, running happily, singing and hugging grandparents and others. Your lives will go on with a bright memory of her until the day you again hug her tight. Blessings to you.
