Gary Keith Mullins

Husband, Father, Papa and friend passed away quietly in his home Feb 29, 2020 after fighting the effects
of vascular dementia. He was watched over by his loving wife Kathleen from the beginning to the end.
He was 76.

Born February 8, 1944 in Salt Lake City Utah to Jean Frances Cooke and Lawrence Darrel Mullins. Gary
was a lover of nature and the out of doors and often shared stories of spending his summers with his
Grandma Lula in Tridale Utah, playing in the fields and creeks and “feeling free”. Life at home was often
difficult and Gary would often work to support his younger siblings' and take care of them.
Gary graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and entered into the Army. He served a mission
for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, in the Edinburgh Scotland mission. This is when he
said his life really began. He loved the people of Scotland and he truly embraced the gospel of Jesus

Just a few days after returning home from his mission he was introduced to Kathleen Whitehead and it
was love at first sight. He told her that night that he wanted to marry her, and they were engaged two
weeks later. They celebrated 52 years together. They had four children and 13 grandchildren.
Gary worked hard for his family. He entered into the Army reserves and was celebrated for his rifle and
military discipline. He loved his job as a Winder Dairy Milk man and often joked that his children were
the milk man's kids. He worked as a District manager for the Deseret News and Tribune. He also had a
way with tools and mechanics that allowed him to work and do repairs around the house and for family
and friends.

He will be remembered for his constant teasing and his Donald Duck impersonations. That amazing
“Tut” he did with his tongue when someone was doing something wrong, that would strike fear in any
child. His ability to use stories to explain something complex. His love for music and dancing. And for his
desire to give his family something better than he had growing up.
Gary is survived by his wife Kathleen Whitehead Mullins and his four children David Keith (Lori), Brian
Thomas (Erin), Gregory Scott (Codee) and Cassandra Murdock (Kenneth), 11 grandchildren and his
brothers and sister Jim (Cathy), Ken (Colleen), Kim (Shaunna), Melia (Rusty) and Mike (Jeanne). He
proceeds his sister Cheryl and brothers Larry and Roger, and two grandbabies Mhairi Ahnna Murdock
and Liam Thomas Mullins.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 6, 2020 at the LDS Chapel on 3676 W 4700 South, Taylorsville
Utah. There will be a viewing for family and friends Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm and Friday at
9:00 am, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am. After graveside services at Valley View Memorial
Park in West Valley City, there will be a luncheon for family and friends who have traveled to attend.

Family wish to express their sincere thanks to Aspire Hospice for their assistance, love and service. A
special expression of love to Rose and Rhonda who offered their love and friendship to our Mother. You
truly are angels!
