Obituary

James(Jim or Jimbo)McKinley Quist passed away peacefully on June 21, 2019 surrounded by
his loving family after a three year battle with Adenocarcinoma cancer.

Jim was born to John Lester and Suzanne Christiansen Quist on February 9, 1964 in Provo,
Utah. In his youth he was on swim teams, a competitor skier and a motocross racer. He had
diverse talents even performing solos in a singing group and he earned his Eagle Scout award
at age 14. He was a graduate of Orem High School. He married Sandy Shiner Boyack on
July 24, 1997. They welcomed a baby girl Shaylee into their lives on January 4, 2000.

Jim was very successful in the high risk insurance business for Prime Evolution Insurance.
He was a valued employee and loved by his colleagues.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. Since he was a young boy he spent time hunting in
the mountains and has many prize mounted trophies. He enjoyed fishing anywhere, especially
deep sea fishing and loved to travel and went on vacations and cruises at every opportunity.
When he was faced with a diagnosis of terminal illness, Jim decided he would spend the last of
his time here on earth traveling and hunting in the mountains of many states making memories
that his family and friends would cherish long after he had passed.

Jimbo was loved by all who knew him! He continually had a zest for life and a big smile on his
face. Always the life of the party, Jim lived the life he loved and loved the life he lived. He
showed courage and bravery after every chemo treatment and appreciated his life to the
fullest up until the remaining weeks of his life. Going to the beach, deep sea fishing with his
entire family of loved ones was the last experience on his bucket list.

Jim was a great son, brother, father, husband, uncle and friend to many, and he will be deeply
missed.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Shaylee and stepdaughter Sherice and grandson
Deion. He is also survived by his loving mother Suzanne (Lyle) Rich, his loving father John
(Susan) Quist, his brother Channing (Joy) Quist and sister Kerrie (Von) Witbeck. Stepbrothers
Jason (Kristine) Wilkins, Eric (Janae) Wilkins, Rory (Susan) Ahlquist, Trevor Ahlquist, and
numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Patrick John Quist.

Graveside services will be held at the Orem City Cemetery on Friday, June 28, 2019 at
11:00 am. Following the graveside service all are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life and
