Robert Ward Brockbank, our husband, father and friend passed away on March 17, 2020.

He was born on June 18, 1958 in Holladay, UT and most recently lived in Provo, UT with his family.

Bob married the love of his life in the summer of 1983 and spent his whole life for his family and friends. He is known most for his unconditional love, selfless service, faith in God, hard work ethic, and sense of humor. He will be remembered by the many stories and impressions he left on those he crossed paths with. Never a man to lose faith. Never a man to give up. A man full of love and optimism. He always saw the brighter side of people and of life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; children: Christopher (Emily), Nathan, and Alex (Elyse); granddaughter, Lola; mother: Joan Startin; siblings: Wendy, Barney, Nada, Mindy, Lizzie, and Annie.

In lieu of a larger gathering due to the things going on in the world, we will be doing a small intimate graveside service for family and friends, with a celebration of his life to come in a few months. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21st, at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, located at 4800 N East Lawn Dr. in Provo, UT 84604 at 2 PM.

Bob always made me feel like the most important person in his life. I am so grateful for the wonderful memories I have spending time in his basement and hanging out with his sons.

We are so sorry to hear of Bob‘s untimely passing. He was such a great friend and mentor to so many people including five of our boys: Eric, Micah, Robert, Troy and Cody. As they worked with Bob and joked with Bob, they all learned to love and respect him. Our love goes out to you Sue and your family. Little did we know that two years after we lost Eric, you would lose Bob, but now they’re back together painting the clouds! Brent & Reta Tischner

I just saw Bob in Days Market a couple of weeks ago we never had a chance to speak but the huge smile and wave from the checkout stand from Bob are what is etched into my mind forever. Nena and I are heartsick, we served together in a YSA on campus.

We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was such a friendly and positive guy, a pleasure to be around. Former youth, now adults, of our Edgemont neighborhood of a certain generation remember him for his service in the church youth program and his kindness toward them, even though it's been several decades since the Brockbanks moved away. Bob and Sue are such an admirable team, and we pray for you, Sue, and your family. Ron and Zina Woods

From Mike Reid:
Marrying into the Brockbank family, I got to know Bob through family gatherings. Everyone gravitated to Bob because of his many stories and quick laugh. Just recently I saw another dimension of Bob. He was called to serve in the Seventh Stake YSA at BYU. I served with him. My assignment involved Institute night. One night I saw Bob on the back row of opening exercises. I wondered why he was there? He wasn't required to be there? Another counselor and I had that assignment. I asked Bob and he said, "I'm a 'hands on' type of guy, I just wanted to see first-hand what goes on at Institute." I told him about it and showed him the classes. He remarked, "Why aren't there more students here, this is great!" I thought he would leave, but he stayed nearly the whole time, and left committed to share what he had learned with those youth in his YSA ward. I thought, "What kind of a fellow would do this? What kind of a guy would suit up in coat and tie, show up on a week night just to 'see what goes on at Institute'? Well, I would learn that Bob Brockbank IS that kind of guy! I will miss him and his example. Our council will miss his spirit and insight...
God bless his good wife Sue and family...

I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. Our families growing up together and being so close together in age, has made it feel like each of you are a brother or sister to me! I love your family and this breaks my heart to hear you are having to go through this. Its a good thing we believe familes are forever and we will be together again with our loved ones. With much love and my deepest sympathy, Sheila Horrocks Cook
