I remember when Rulon was my fourth grade teacher at the Salem, Utah elementry school. It was the last day of the school year and Rulon was handing out the promotion certificates in alphabetical order. As he was giving each student their letter of promotion, I yelled from my seat in the back of the room, "Where is mine R. A. T. His initials. Rulon A Thomas. He looked my way and slowly explained. "You will get yours last." And I was the last one in the class to recieve a certificate of promotion. My initials RVL. Every time we would meet Rulon the last few years we would still talk about that day and laugh. Rulon was a wonderful individual, teacher and friend. He would always want to stop and talk with me and my wife at the Elks Lodge in St George at the Thursday night suppers. He will be greatly missed.
